Parcel Delivery Marketplace
Version: v1.0

An overview of how parcel delivery works on BookMaMe. For step-by-step customer actions, see Parcel Delivery Requests.
What it is
Parcel Delivery is the BookMaMe marketplace for sending a parcel from one address to another using a supported delivery company.
Unlike restaurant, shop, or rental delivery, the parcel itself is the core product. The sender defines:
- the pickup location
- the drop-off location
- the parcel details
- the recipient

Who the parties are
| Party | Role |
|---|---|
| Sender | Creates the parcel request, pays, and tracks the delivery |
| Recipient | Receives the parcel; may be linked to a BookMaMe account or handled as a contact-only recipient |
| Delivery company | Accepts and fulfills the parcel request operationally |
| Rider | Performs pickup, transit, delivery handoff, and possible return flow |
| Platform (BookMaMe) | Matches eligible delivery companies, processes payment, tracks task flow, and handles reporting/settlement |
End-to-end flow
Sender creates parcel request
→ Pickup/drop-off and parcel details are validated
→ Eligible delivery companies are shown
→ Sender selects a company and pays
→ Delivery task becomes ready for dispatch
→ Rider is assigned and picks up the parcel
→ Parcel is transported to the recipient
→ Recipient confirms delivery, or the parcel enters a retry / return flow
→ Request completes or returns to sender
What makes parcel delivery different
- It is not cart-based like restaurant or shop checkout
- The route depends on two exact locations: pickup and drop-off
- Delivery-company eligibility depends on:
- parcel delivery class
- weight
- dimensions / volume
- declared value
- route coverage
- The recipient can be:
- a linked BookMaMe user
- or a contact-only recipient
Payment model
The sender pays for the parcel request after selecting an eligible delivery company.
Available payment providers depend on:
- the selected currency
- the current supported country/payment setup
- the configured online gateways available for that request
Vouchers may also apply where supported.
Tracking and confirmation
Parcel delivery uses richer tracking than a generic order flow:
- sender tracking
- recipient tracking for linked recipients
- sender-assisted recipient confirmation in some cases
- retry and return-to-sender operational states
